so... a bit ago I posted the following on my facebook page:

so here's the deal: I want to capture inspiration. if any of you have a specific song or poem or something that inspires you (needs to be specific: not a general topic but if music inspires-pick a specific song), share it here. I will pick at least one entry and will photograph something the corresponds to it (according to my best interpretation) ALSO: whoever provides the source of inspiration for the image will receive a free print of the photo taken and if you live somewhere other than Utah, I'll mail it to you.

there were a good number of inspirations shared. i have to say that i loved reading all of them. it was really a fun challenge photographing something that corresponded to the winning entry.

after placing all the entries into a hat, one was drawn. on jan 22nd, John Moore posted "‎The Call" by Regina Spektor. well, John- here's a more in-depth look at this inspirational song.

as I listened again and again to this song... the theme that seemed to echo in my mind was all about beginnings and changes and new life. it's interesting to think that even though life continues on in a cycle, and that although somethings seem to come to an end, in all reality there's never really such a thing as goodbye. this is what made this song particularly inspirational to me. it's hard to say goodbye and to see the end of something wonderful, but this is a finite way to approach life. instead, just look at it as a stepping stone to the next level of progression and continue on. thank you Regina. thank you John.

so... i focused on photographing signs of life in the dead of winter. here they are:

winter berries, 2011

the search, 2011

persistence, 2011

life signs, 2011

light, 2011

as promised- John will get his pick of one of these images. enjoy!

Hi, I don't know if you'll even remember me but we were in the same ward for awhile at BYU-I. I just thought I'd say hi. I love all your photos!
Good luck with everything and I hope you are well!
